Thanksgiving Breakfast

Blue Heron Ministries held it's annual volunteer appreciation breakfast aptly held each year around Thanksgiving. Nate demonstrated the value of volunteer hours by showing bags of clean seed. It takes many hours of work to get to that point between gathering and cleaning and drying the seeds. It is a value above money. There were 693.5 volunteer hours lovingly given this year. A record. Everyone was blessed by the sharing not the least of which was a hymn sung by our leader, Nate and his wife Aimee. What a great day.

October Seed Gathering

We had our final seed gathering of the year Saturday October 31 and on this Halloween we received a special treat. On our way to our gathering destination we saw a large flock of Sandhill Cranes and one Whooping Crane. We could see it was tagged and apparently got a bit off course during migration and caught up with some Sandhills. It was a cool but beautiful day of gathering not only of seeds but also a gathering of those who love nature.
