Hike A Sand Barrens

Saturday August 14 from 8:00 AM until noon. Located just 19 miles north of our own Badger Barrens is a real sand barrens. Owned and managed by the Michigan Nature Association. Sand Creek Prairie Plant Preserve features a black oak barrens community and a fen wetland community bordered by a clear, sand-bottom creek. Come join us for a short hike. Bring hiking boots that will do well in wetlands, field guide and a sack lunch. We may swing by our own Badger Barrens to see what's up. Meet at the Chapel to carpool.
